Hi everyone.
I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself, my name is Brad and I’m the newest member of the CrewFO team.
My Background:
I’m currently working part-time while I complete my final year of an MA in Accounting and Finance at the University of Aberdeen. Before this, however, I used to work in the superyacht industry. I spent 3 years working onboard a 65m private yacht and continued to stay involved in the yachting industry throughout my studies, spending two of my summer breaks working onboard a 73m charter yacht and another working as a yacht agent in the U.K.
Although I greatly enjoyed my time working onboard yachts, learning a lot, and growing as an individual, I ultimately didn’t see it as a suitable lifestyle for me long term, so I began thinking of my exit plan. With such strong ties to the yachting industry, it seemed like a natural progression to combine my new career with my old one, so where better to work than at the company that used to do my taxes while I was in the yachting industry.
My New Role:
My previous yachting experience gives me some distinct advantages in my new role, namely that I understand the demands of the yachting industry and the requirements and thought processes of the crew. I understand the complexities and intricacies of working onboard a yacht: the long hours, the monotonous jobs, the extravagant time off, and most importantly the ever-increasing bank account (if you’re doing it right). It’s my hope that I can use this position to help current and future crew avoid all the mistakes I, and many other yachties I have met along the way, have made. Financial freedom is a subject that is very important to me, and I take great pride in being able to help others achieve this through smart investment decisions and sensible money management.
